Langham900
On 17th February, Colchester City Council's Local Plan Committee Meeting voted NOT to recommend approval of the draft Local Plan to go out to public consultation. It would be nice to think that our Langham900 email campaign and the village demonstration outside the Charter Hall played at least a small part in securing this result. The vote not to approve the plan has now bought us more time to prepare our reasoned arguments against CCC's proposals to bring about the death of Langham as a rural village by swamping it with 900 new high density housing units in the fields between School Road, Wick Road, Park Lane and Moor Road.
We have built a new dedicated webpage where residents can stay up to date with all the latest developments in Colchester's Local Plan proposals and specifically the implications for Langham.
We are currently working our way through the 300+ email objections already received, and looking to build as comprehensive a list as we can of all the potentially valid evidence-based criteria which we can use to build our case against the totally disproportionate housing numbers being suggested for Langham's future.
If you haven't yet sent us an email expressing your views about the 900 homes proposal, please do it as soon as possible, and ask your Langham friends and neighbours to do it too!
We will be running a "Drop-In" session at the Langham Community Centre on Sat 8th March, 10am - 2pm, to share ideas about how best to fight these proposals.
We will then be looking to secure a full public meeting in the Langham Community Centre, with the attendance of Planners from Colchester City Council to explain their latest thinking and take your and our questions.
